Our Amazing Veterinary Assistants

Our Amazing Veterinary Assistants

All our staff at Pet Care Clinic deserves recognition for their hard work and dedication. Today however, we are honoring our wonderful Veterinary Assistants – Tammy and Lauren. These two women are truly rock stars. Since both of our assistants accel in other areas as well, they hold other important responsibilities around the clinic. They always perform at 110% in everything they do.

Lauren:

Lauren is one of our Veterinary Assistants and the clinic’s Safety Officer. She has been with us for a little over 2 years. Her main responsibilities as a VA are helping with cage cleanings, laundry, giving injections, placing IV catheters, and preparing and monitoring patients during surgery and in recovery. She said that having such a broad range of tasks throughout the day makes each day a little different and keeps her busy. In her role as Safety Officer, Lauren ensures that OSHA standards are being followed and that the different chemicals and medications around the clinic are properly labeled.

Lauren is working towards becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician. She is currently enrolled in an online program at Penn Foster College. She wants to become a RVT so she can learn more about the medications and treatments we use at the clinic every day. There are also some things that a RVT can do that she cannot since she is a VA. Lauren wants to be able to help our doctor and patients as much as possible and the best way to do that is to become a Registered Vet Tech.

There are a lot of reasons Lauren loves working at Pet Care Clinic. She loves seeing all the new puppies and kittens that come here daily and caring for them as they grow. She loves learning new things and performing new tasks. The most rewarding aspect of her job is when a sick or injured patient comes in and we can diagnose and treat the pet then send them home to their family feeling happy and healthy.

Tammy:

Tammy is our other wonderful Veterinary Assistant and Inventory Manager. Ever since Tammy was little, she has had a love for animals, and that love continued to her adult life.  Tammy has been working as a Veterinary Assistant for a total of 23 years. 10 of those years, she has spent here at Pet Care Clinic. She can’t imagine doing anything else.

Her Veterinary Assistant duties here are very similar to Lauren’s. She helps with nail trims, blood draws, caring for patients, listening to client concerns, and routine hospital cleaning. As Inventory Manager, it is her responsibility to make sure all medications, vaccines, and foods are stocked. It is also her responsibility to make sure that the inventory we do have isn’t expired.

When asked what she loved most about her job here at Pet Care Clinic, Tammy said there are too many things to list. If she had to pick just two, they would be getting to watch patient’s grow and the relationships she has built with clients and co-workers (past and present). Even after all these years, she is still amazed by how much people are willing to do for their furry family members. It takes a special person to work in this industry for as long as Tammy has. We are so fortunate she has decided to spend the past decade here.

We’ve said it once and we will say it again, we have the best hospital team! Without our amazing Veterinary Assistants, we wouldn’t be able to perform at the high level that we do. Thank you, Lauren and Tammy! You two are amazing!
